A living urn made of mycelium

Following their first design of a living coffin made of mycelium, Dutch startup Loop has developed a living urn, also made of the root system of mushrooms.

Called Loop EarthRise, the urn is grown in seven days from mycelium, the root system of mushrooms, which creates a white, lightweight material reminiscent of polystyrene. The mushrooms for the urn are local and live on upcycled hemp fibres.

The urn biodegrades in 45 days, but only when buried, which can be in your own backyard. The lid of the urn can have a plant in it, or the urn can be decorated with biodegradable paint.
