Designer Philipp Aduatz, in collaboration with set designer Dominik Freynschlag and 3D concrete printing manufacturer incremental3d, 3D printed a film studio of concrete. The concrete wall was printed using a special mortar based on white cement. It consists of 60 individual segments, with six parts each stacked to form a segment. All parts are screwed together in each horizontal plane so the wall can be completely disassembled. Multidisciplinary designer @Jess_Redgrave developed a fibre for textiles, natural dyes and a hydrophobic coating made entirely of sunflowers. Most rain jackets are made of some sort of plastic material or are made waterproof with fossil-based coatings. Both options are bad for the environment. Sunflowers are used as part of regenerative agricultural systems, as they can be grown without fertilisers and their roots establish a symbiotic relationship with beneficial microbes, bacteria and fungi that promote healthy soils. The timber-hybrid residential tower HAUT on the Amstel in Amsterdam, the Netherlands has scored ‘Outstanding’ with 88% on the BREEAM-NL Delivery Certificate. The luxury residential building is a development of Lingotto, designed by Team V Architecture and Arup, and built by J.P. van Eesteren. The homes were completed in 2022 and after an administrative process, the BREEAM-NL Delivery Certificate was recently obtained.
