In a notable example of sustainable material reuse, Maastricht-based company Healix has collaborated with Elho, a brand specialising in innovative plant pots, to create a new wine-inspired plant pot collection. Made entirely from recycled vineyard plastic, the pots embody a blend of sustainability and aesthetic appeal for eco-conscious interior spaces.

Tackling Vineyard Plastic Waste
Every year, French vineyards generate a significant amount of plastic waste—estimated at 340,000 kilograms. Traditionally, this plastic supports grapevines as they grow and ripen under the sun but is discarded after each harvest. Healix identified this as an opportunity to reduce plastic waste by transforming vineyard plastic into 100% recycled materials, which are now part of Elho’s waste collection. Healix’s unique recycling process repurposes this waste, and through their collaboration with Elho, the materials have been moulded into new, versatile plant pots.

Introducing the Winery Collection
Elho’s Winery Collection features pots made from this recycled vineyard plastic, sourced from vineyards in the renowned Alsace and Champagne regions. Each pot in the collection is available in wine-inspired colours, such as purple and Bordeaux red, and comes in four different sizes (14, 15, 18, and 22 cm), allowing for versatile interior styling. The recycled plastic undergoes a specialised treatment to ensure durability and a design suitable for home aesthetics, highlighting the potential of single-use agricultural plastics in long-lasting, stylish home products.
