3D printed sneakers

US-based fashion and technology design studio Ica & Kostika designed sculptural unisex sneakers made by 3D printing.

Called Mycelium, the design is inspired by the radial groth of mycelium, the root system of mushrooms. The shoe is 3D printed from a ‘partially recyclable elastomer’, which is said to be smooth and soft with a comfortable fit. The shoes are made to order and take six hours to print. The production is fully automated.

Ica & Kostika offer other sculptural shoes as 3D print files to print on your own 3D printer, though the disclaimer on the website states that the models are suitable only for decorative purposes and not for actual wearing. The Mycelium Sneakers are suitable for wearing.
