“Converse” by Studio Rene Siebum is an evocative design exploring how everyday objects and materials communicate with users. When you run your hand along this particular handrail, the intensity of the material texture grows, informing users as to whether they are ascending or descending in space.

Human nature and sensorial experiences are rich sources of inspiration for Rene Siebum’s work, both in terms of material use and construction. In other works by Siebum, an object becomes a space  – Second Skin 2009 –  and a wall becomes an object  – Wardrobe 2013.

In Siebum’s studio, the craftsman meets the designer on an equal level. Concept and craft are complementary processes that bring the essence and function of objects in a clear design language.
