13.00 – 13.30: Innovation Management in Ship Building
Dr. Marco Zeschky and Mr Andreas Schnele, Porsche Consulting GmbH, Germany What does innovation management mean in general, and how can success factors of production and assembly be transferred from the automotive sector into ship building? Porsche Consulting GmbH headquartered in Bietigheim-Bissingen is a subsidiary of the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG. Founded in 1994 with a staff of four, it currently employs around 370 people. It works with companies across a wide range of industries and disciplines with a common goal of creating ‘operational excellence’.
14.00 – 14.45: Panel discussion: End-of-life boats
The clock is ticking on how best to tackle the escalating number of old boats littering our waterways. With the industry divided on a solution, what was once a nuisance now threatens to become a major problem. A panel of leading industry experts debate the various ‘solutions’ on the table and what needs to be done to avert a full-blown crisis.
15.00-15.30: Best of both worlds: Overcoming the engineering challenge of combining a fibreglass hull with an aluminium alloy superstructure in the 50m build VICA, and what the successful fusion of diverse materials could mean for the future of yacht construction
Mr E. Campronese, Project Manager, Benetti
Emanuele Camporese joined Benetti as Project Manager right after the start-up of the new Custom Yacht facility (Livorno) in 2005 after five years as Specialist and Manager in structural and outfitting design at Fincantieri. In 2009 he was promoted to Technical Manager for the Custom Yacht business unit of the Megayacht division. The involvement of his team in different megayacht projects, research groups and new technology applications generated a cross-fertilization between various yacht fields that is now the ground work for the Basic Design Department he has led since spring 2014 where megayachts from 45 to 100m+ pre contractual, naval architecture and initial design take shape.
16.00-16.30: Innovative materials for yachts
Els Zijlstra, Creative Director, Materia
The new luxury: new and innovative materials made of recycled and renewable sources, generating energy or made by digital manufacturing techniques will become the new `smart´ luxury.
WEDNESDAY 18 NOVEMBER 2015
10.15 – 10.45: The head behind the heart – The scientific approach behind the development of Dominator’s
ground-breaking Ilumen range
Mr Andrea Agrusta, CEO and Technical Director , NavalHEAD. Naval Architect and Marine Engineer, PhD. Head of engineering for the Ilumen range
The Dominator llumen 26M is a revolutionary yacht thanks to the innovative technical features and modern design methods used. The engineering design for the Ilumen has followed a rational approach more typically found in the technical design of advanced large cruise ships and military vessels. This kind of attention to detail harnesses a deeper understanding of physics rarely used in yacht design.
11.15 – 11.45: Innovative materials for yachts
Ir. Els Zijlstra, Creative Director, Materia
The new luxury: new and innovative materials made of recycled and renewable sources, generating energy or made by digital manufacturing techniques will become the new `smart´ luxury.
12.00 – 13.00: DAME Elevator Pitches of Category Winners
Category 1 Marine electronics & marine related software
Category 2 Interior equipment, furnishing, materials and electrical fittings used in cabins
Category 3 Marina equipment, boatyard equipment & boat construction tools & materials
Category 4 Deck equipment, sails and rigging

Category 7 Machinery, propulsion, mechanical and electrical systems and fittings
13.15 – 13.45: Innovating with Advanced Composites
Mr E. Hall, President, Hall Spars & Rigging
Opening the industry’s eyes to advanced composites processes (aerospace autoclave curing and related high level processes) will lead to innovative strength and weight saving solutions not previously considered in yacht building. The discussion will highlight new process developments.
