Material Xperience: second day
After a very busy first day at Material Xperience 2014, what could be better than an even busier second day? We packed the day so full of seminars, materials and an award that we decided to stay open until 8pm.
Material Xperience brings designers into contact with innovative material producers, and to do this we start off with our independent collection of materials.
The smart selection here at Material Xperience has attracted lots of attention, featuring interactive materials, techno transfer materials, and a series of special items.
Seminars during the second day included Thomas Rau, who addresses materials as a service, rather than a final product. His talk on the TurnToo economy raised many questions and provided healthy discussion. We’ll have a summary up soon.
Koert van Mensvoort discussed smart nature, or how certain aspects of technology slowly become woven into our daily lives, eventually becoming natural to us.
Researcher Manuel Kretzer took a look at the latest smart materials. He showed us how to grow your own silicon-based techno-materials, which can even change shape according to our wishes.
We will have more on all of these seminars up online soon. Material Xperience 2014 continues runs on until Friday 24th January.
