A rug inspired by a pebbled beach

Scandinavian design studio Muuto teamed up with Margrethe Odgaard to design a wool and jute carpet inspired by the sensuous feeling of walking across a pebbled beach.

The Pebble Rug is made from a canvas base layer in jute with woollen loops atop. The wool give the feeling of walking on a pebbled beach when stepping on the rug barefoot.

The jute is dyed in colours derived from natural materials: Oregon pine, stone and oak. The coloured jute reflects light, as opposed to the undyed wool, which absorbs it.

The rugs are handwoven, made in India from 100% New Zealand wool. The carpet is available in four colours: pale pink, dark grey, burnt orange and light grey.
