Timber hybrid building Netherlands BREEAM Outstanding

The timber-hybrid residential tower HAUT on the Amstel in Amsterdam, the Netherlands has scored ‘Outstanding’ with 88% on the BREEAM-NL Delivery Certificate.

The luxury residential building is a development of Lingotto, designed by Team V Architecture and Arup, and built by J.P. van Eesteren. The homes were completed in 2022 and after an administrative process, the BREEAM-NL Delivery Certificate was recently obtained.

At 21 storeys, HAUT is the tallest hybrid wooden building in the Netherlands, made with load-bearing walls and floors made of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), serving as an example for architects, developers and contractors worldwide.

The building is sustainable on all fronts. Within the nine pillars of BREEAM-NL, 88% of the points were achieved, making this the first residential building in the Netherlands in the category ‘Outstanding’. In addition to a CLT supporting structure, HAUT has solar panels in the facade and on the roof, innovative installations, green roof gardens, smart home automation and there are about 100 bird nests ‘hidden’ in the facade.
