What Not to Miss at Dutch Design Week 2024: Biobased and Circular Materials

Dutch Design Week 2024 takes place from 19 to 27 October in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Here, we present some of the most innovative material projects present. Today, we dive into the world of biobased and circular materials.

Dutch Design Week 2024 shines a spotlight on the future of sustainable building with innovative biobased and circular materials. At the Embassy of Circular & Biobased Building, you’ll find a host of projects showcasing eco-friendly construction methods, while Opschalen van Biobased Bouwen met Stro en Hout (Scaling up Biobased Construction with Straw and Wood) focuses on the scalability of straw and wood for sustainable architecture.

Explore From Plants to Plastics, where plant-based materials are transformed into plastics, promoting a circular approach to material use. The Trilix Bamboo Pavilion demonstrates bamboo’s strength and sustainability, offering a unique architectural experience. Finally, Infrawall: Biobased Multifunctional Noise Barrier combines functionality and ecology, using biobased materials to reduce noise pollution.

These projects offer a glimpse into the next generation of sustainable building, where natural materials and circular systems take centre stage.
