The 4D Tile is an innovative 3D printed ceramic tile conceived as a 4D building element, designed to interact over time with water, climate, and living nature. Measuring 8×8 cm and crafted in durable stoneware ceramic, its sculptural geometry is engineered to capture rain and retain ambient moisture, creating ideal conditions for local moss to thrive.

More than a static surface, the tile evolves with its environment. Water, humidity, and plant growth become active components of the design, turning the tile into a small-scale sponge that slows evaporation and supports resilient vegetation—even in shaded conditions.

The tiles are available in multiple design variations, each with a unique three-dimensional structure that enhances water retention and biodiversity. Ad-hoc, custom designs can also be developed in collaboration with customers to respond to specific architectural, ecological, or aesthetic requirements.

Each tile is glazed using reclaimed local earth from excavation sites and discarded wooden ashes, making every piece 100% natural and deeply connected to its local context. Suitable for outdoor façades, shaded balconies, interior walls, or installations, the tile can host living local moss or be fitted with preserved moss for maintenance-free applications.
