BD-Tan™ is Rompa Leather’s next-generation circular tanning concept, developed to improve the environmental performance of leather without compromising quality or durability. The system is designed to eliminate harmful chemistry, reduce waste during production and enhance biodegradability, enabling compostability at the end of a product’s life cycle.

Rather than redefining leather as a material, BD-Tan™ focuses on evolving the tanning process. By optimising formulations and material inputs, the leather remains 100% bio-based, durable and long-lasting, while achieving improved environmental credentials. The result is a high-performance leather suitable for applications such as fashion, footwear, bags and upholstery.

BD-Tan™ leather maintains key technical and aesthetic qualities, including a tight grain structure, colour vibrancy and mechanical strength. At the same time, it is developed with circularity in mind, supporting a more responsible lifecycle from raw hide to end-of-use.
