Lunawood ThermoWood® creates a connection between urban life and nature. Grown and strengthened in the harsh climate of Finland, renewable Nordic forests provide exceptional timber, which Lunawood enhances using only heat and steam. The result is an easy-to-maintain, long-lasting and thoroughly sustainable wood product suitable for all climates.
The ThermoWood production process was patented, and the ThermoWood® trademark was established in Finland in 2000. Lunawood was founded in 2001 and celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
Thermal modification not only gives both pine and spruce a warm brown colour and distinctive natural scent, but also extends the wood’s expected service life to 30 years. This makes it an excellent choice for façades, as well as decking, solar shading, pergolas, partition walls and fences. Indoors, Lunawood is ideal for wall and ceiling panelling and other decorative applications, thanks to its dimensional stability. This is one of the reasons it is also widely used in saunas and spa environments.
Lunawood products are available in a wide range of sizes, profiles and finishes. They are available with a fire classification of D-s2,d0 as standard and can achieve B-s1,d0 when combined with a natural, non-toxic fire-retardant treatment.
With Lunawood products, it is possible to create more beautiful and healthier living environments for future generations. Compared to non-renewable materials, chemically treated timber and tropical hardwoods, Lunawood products have a minimal environmental impact. Each Lunawood product stores approximately five times more carbon than is emitted during its manufacturing process.
