Mono Wool is a 100% wool upholstery – designed to be local, recyclable and socially responsible.
In Europe tonnes of raw wool are produced as a waste product, as the fibres are too coarse for clothing. However, coarse wool can be used as an excellent upholstery material, as its fibres have a special bounce.
The Mono Wool cover is a 3D knitted structure with hollow spaces, filled with wool padding. With this 3D knitting technology, the upholstery fabric can be extracted by the machine as a finished part, eliminating the need for manual work-intensive processing steps.
The yarn as well as the padding’s supply chain stays within Central Europe.
Elbwolle, a local manufacturer of wool yarn, deserves special mention. The company works and produces in close contact with shepherds and is rebuilding local supply chains for wool yarns and clothing.
