Furniture made of olive waste

Greek design studio Koukos de Lab developed a sheet material made from the final waste of olives, which they use to make furniture.

Greece is the largest exporter of olives. Therefore, the inedible core is a major waste product.

The design studio decided to turn it into a sheet material called Koukoutsi that can be used as flooring, tiles, but also to make furniture. The studio designed a coffee table , a bench, and a stool with the material. It is also available in sheets for other uses.

The material is available in three types, using the olives’ dark core, the blond pip or a combination of the two.
