MaterialDistrict Utrecht is back and fully committed to the circular economy
After three years it’s finally time again: the only annual event for material specifiers from all sectors of spatial design is back, with a new location. With 125 exhibitors, an exhibition with 250 materials and a lecture programme with 50 speakers, MaterialDistrict Utrecht will once again be full of material inspiration from 5 to 7 April 2022, this time in the Werkspoorkathedraal Utrecht, the Netherlands. The event is fully committed to the circular economy.
How can you build circularly? Which materials contribute to a healthy living environment? Will we soon be saving or generating energy with smart materials? MaterialDistrict Utrecht (formerly Material Xperience) is the only annual event in the Netherlands that brings together material manufacturers and specifiers of materials from all sectors of spatial design and answers the most important questions on the way to a circularly built and designed environment.
New location
Where the event previously took place in Rotterdam Ahoy, MaterialDistrict has moved to the Werkspoorkathedraal in Utrecht for this edition. This was already planned for the 2021 edition, which unfortunately could not take place due to Covid-19.
The Werkspoorkathedraal is an immense industrial work shed and a unique location that is brimming with creativity and innovation.
MaterialDistrict Innovation Fund
This year, more exhibitors than ever are showing (material) innovations within the themes of Circularity, Wellbeing and Energy Transition, a direct result of the MaterialDistrict Innovation Fund established by MaterialDistrict in 2019. Start-ups and designers can receive a subsidy from the fund for their participation in the fair. An independent advisory committee plays an important role in scouting start-ups and assessing grant applications.
High-profile lecture programme
MaterialDistrict Utrecht is known for its high-profile lecture programme in which renowned (inter)national architects, scientists, designers and other experts share the latest developments in the field of materials with the public. This year, too, there will be two theatre programmes simultaneously in which a line-up of no fewer than 50 speakers will share their knowledge and experience with the visitors.
Visit
The 15th edition of MaterialDistrict Utrecht will take place from 5 to 7 April in the Werkspoorkathedraal in Utrecht. With 6,000 expected visitors, 125 exhibitors and 5,800 m2 of surface area, the ultimate materials event for (interior) architects and R&D professionals is once again fully dominated by material innovations for the spatial domain: Architecture, Interior, Garden & Landscape Architecture, Leisure, Exhibition & Decor Construction. and Furniture & Interior Construction.
