Gras Wood Wide is a timber and façade specialist based in Zaandam, the Netherlands, and an importer and supplier of solid softwood façade products. The company focuses primarily on Western Red Cedar, Lunawood, Zaans Zwart, Royal Wood, Hemwood, and its most recent addition, Superwood.

The company name refers not only to the World Wide Web, but also to the “Wood Wide Web” — the underground network through which trees communicate, share nutrients, and form interconnected ecosystems. Trees that are connected are more resilient. This principle symbolises the company itself, now led by the sixth generation of the Gras family. Founded in 1886, Gras Wood Wide remains firmly rooted in its heritage while looking beyond individual lifespans, investing in long-term solutions and contributing to a better world for future generations.

How It All Started
In 1886, Floris Gras purchased the sawmill De Roode Leeuw, which was powered entirely by wind. Shortly afterwards, he joined forces with his younger brother Gerrit to establish F. & G. Gras, initially trading wooden components for gin crates. A second mill followed within a few years. From 1916 onwards, sawing operations ceased as more efficient technologies emerged, and the company shifted its focus entirely to the trade of sawn timber.
