During Metstrade 2017 you can once again enjoy Material Xperience On Tour on 14, 15 and 16 November, this time with the theme “Floating Future”. This exhibition is entirely dedicated to inspirational and innovative materials for yacht building.

Material Xperience On Tour consists of the exhibition “Floating Future”, as well as the presentation of the newest materials of some of our partners. The yacht industry is a specific one, with its own history of materials and techniques. However, there is much inspiration to be found and lessons to be learned by looking at developments in others sectors. Digital techniques such as 3D printing, the use of smart materials, recycled materials and biobased materials are amply represented in the exhibition “Floating Future”. 3D printed surfaces, origami textiles, luxurious leather, acoustic and fireproof metals, panels made from seagrass, and tiles of recycled plastic from the ocean are some exciting examples. The exhibition has something for everybody, from creative, technician and trendwatcher to manufacturer.

This material inspiration will also be discussed during Materia’s lectures at the Innovation Stage. Rene Ritmeijer from 3D Robotprinting will be talking about 3D printed boat parts. Daan Pol of Ortega Submersibles explains how they created the world’s first 3D printed submarine and why it is so popular. Finally, Materia’s own Els Zijlstra will discuss the newest materials in the yacht design of the future.
