Fundermax Biofiber is a wood-based panel manufactured from 100% sustainable, certified wood sourced from regional forestry. The board is produced using a wet fibre process in which the wood’s natural resins are activated and used as binding agents. As a result, no petrochemical binders are added during production. The energy required for manufacturing is generated exclusively from biogenic fuels.
The wet process produces a high-density hardboard with a smooth, flat surface and consistent material homogeneity. Biofiber Standard boards are supplied untreated with an unsanded top surface for interior use. The formaldehyde content corresponds to that of natural wood. According to the manufacturer’s life cycle assessment, the product achieves a negative global warming potential of –1,612.50 kg CO₂ per cubic metre, attributed to biogenic carbon storage and the absence of petroleum-based adhesives.
The panels are available in a full format of 5640 × 2150 mm, with thicknesses ranging from 1.6 to 8.0 mm, and up to 12.0 mm on request. Custom cutting, sanding and special formats can be provided.
Due to the material density and surface characteristics, Biofiber boards offer good paintability, machinability and dimensional stability. The panels can be punched, milled and cut, and are suitable for further sanding and coating. The use of natural resins contributes to mechanical strength, elasticity and a degree of moisture resistance, enabling applications where durability and surface quality are required.
Typical applications include stiffening wall cladding in timber frame construction, support plates in building systems, door facings, furniture components, packaging solutions, automotive interior trim and technical uses such as drilling pads in the printed circuit board industry. Disposal follows standard regulations applicable to untreated wood-based panels.
