Accessibility Statement
We want MaterialDistrict to be usable by everyone, including people who rely on assistive technology.
Our aim
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We do not claim full compliance: parts of this website contain material submitted by third parties, and older content predates the current guidelines. Where we fall short, we would rather say so and fix it than claim otherwise.
What we have done
- Colour contrast across text, buttons and interface elements reviewed and corrected to meet the AA threshold.
- Keyboard navigation throughout the site, including focus trapping in dialogs and menus, and a visible focus indicator on every interactive element.
- Semantic headings, landmarks and labels so screen readers can navigate the page structure.
- Alternative text on images, and decorative images marked so they are skipped.
- Interface components that work without a mouse and without relying on colour alone to convey meaning.
- Respect for the operating system setting that reduces motion.
Known limitations
- Material images and documents supplied by manufacturers may lack useful alternative text. We correct these as we come across them.
- Some older PDF documents are not tagged for screen readers.
- Video content does not consistently carry captions.
Telling us about a problem
If you run into something on this website you cannot use, we would like to hear about it. Email info@materialdistrict.com with the page address and a short description of what went wrong, and which assistive technology or browser you were using if that is relevant.
We aim to respond within five working days. If a fix takes longer, we will tell you what we are doing and offer another way to get at the information in the meantime.
