With over 50 years’ experience in the design and manufacture of coated fabrics, Morbern’s innovative products combine style and performance to fulfil a wide range of requirements across markets and applications.

Morbern’s total commitment to greener living and eco-friendly solutions makes it a leader in the supply of sustainable vegan leather.

From their REACH-compliant, phthalate-free production in Canada, where continuous sustainability strategies have already underpinned their environmental promises, to their ambitious plans for greater & greener achievements, Morbern’s ethos is one of total commitment to the planet: help protect and preserve the children’s tomorrows while meeting their clients’ needs today.

Once one of the first manufacturers to completely eliminate heavy metals from Morbern’s production, they are continuously introducing new green initiatives:

  • powered by renewable hydro-electricity
  • low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) water-based formulations
  • most of the waste is reused in the process with the rest redirected out of landfill sites to other applications by a dedicated team
  • Morbern’s plant in Ontario sits on the mighty Saint Lawrence River and after much recirculation to keep consumption low, the water released at the end of the manufacturing process is regularly tested to ensure it is clean enough to drink!

Morbern was one of the first manufacturers to introduce durable FR-free coated fabrics to meet the growing demand for materials without flame-retardant (FR) additive in North America. As the FR-free revolution gained momentum around the world, Morbern expanded its FR-free product range in Europe and launched MorGreen™: a collection of coated fabrics without any chemical FR (Fire Resistant) additives, still achieving the European Fire Norm EN1021 (Part 1&2) and the much coveted OekoTex Label.

The most recent addition to the MorGreen™ FR-free collection, EvoHide™, combines high bio-content ingredients and a 100% recycled polyester backing fabric to reach 75% sustainable content.

As a pioneer of durable, eco-friendly surface solutions, Morbern Europe recently announced that, from January 2023, the backing fabrics of their 8 best-selling product ranges will switch to a 100% recycled fabric, kitted in house with yarn derived from used PET plastic bottles.

Morbern Europe is part of the global ISO9001:2015 & ISO14001:2015 certified company, headquartered in Ontario, Canada with a central European distribution hub based in Belgium.
