Autoheal

A clear tape which adheres and bonds to itself. It has the remarkable advantage of self-healing when damaged. This sheet, by Mindset, is made of a proprietary silicon polymer.

If two freshly cut edges are pushed back together, new bonds form and in seconds it seals. It is then almost impossible to pull the cut open. Similarly, if two clean surfaces are brought together, new bonds immediately form. This makes the Autoheal polymer one of the few known materials that can be welded to itself using pressure alone.

Of particular interest is that the material bonds only to itself. This property of very quick and targeted self-healing obviously has multiple possible uses. The material comes either as a small piece of approximately 150mm length, or in metre lengths. Its width is standard at 48mm.
