Duplicor® is a bio-based composite material developed for construction and building applications. Manufactured from a resin derived from agricultural waste and combined with fibre-reinforced laminates, the material is designed to offer a lightweight alternative to conventional construction materials while incorporating renewable and recycled resources.
The composite utilises a 100% bio-based resin system and can be combined with core materials such as recycled PET foam, recycled plastic packaging, cork or recycled cardboard. In sandwich panel configurations, these core materials contribute to low weight, thermal performance and resource efficiency. The use of recycled PET, including material recovered from plastic bottles, further supports the incorporation of secondary raw materials into the product.
Duplicor® is characterised by its low weight compared with many traditional construction materials. According to the manufacturer, the material can be up to four times lighter than aluminium structures and up to fifteen times lighter than concrete. This reduced weight can lower transportation requirements and simplify handling, installation and end-of-life dismantling processes.
The material has been developed with a focus on fire performance and durability. Duplicor® achieves a Euroclass fire rating of B-s1,d0 without the addition of conventional flame-retardant additives. In addition to its fire performance, the composite exhibits temperature resistance and mechanical properties suitable for a range of architectural and structural applications.
Due to the flexibility of composite manufacturing processes, the material can be produced in a variety of formats, including prepreg rolls, sheets, profiles and sandwich panels. Applications range from façade systems, façade elements and roof structures to floors, interior components and other building products. More complex integrated façade systems and custom-shaped architectural elements can also be manufactured using the material.
Designed for long service life and future recyclability, Duplicor® reflects a material approach that combines bio-based feedstocks, recycled content and lightweight construction principles. By reducing material consumption and incorporating renewable and secondary resources, the composite offers an alternative solution for applications within the built environment.
