FILIE® Foam

FILIE® is a material range made from recycled automotive windshields. The material utilises recovered polyvinyl butyral (PVB), the interlayer film found in laminated safety glass, transforming a challenging waste stream into flexible sheet materials and closed-cell foams. Through a process of separating, cleaning and reprocessing the PVB, the recycled material is converted into granules that can be coated onto textile backings and embossed with a variety of surface textures.

Developed in collaboration with recycling partner Recotec, FILIE® offers an alternative to virgin petroleum-based materials while helping to divert windshield waste from landfill. The material is suitable for applications such as bags, sporting goods, upholstery and other interior products where durable, leather-like surfaces or lightweight foam materials are required.
