The Teknos FR Panel system is a waterborne fire-retardant coating system developed to improve the fire performance of timber surfaces used in interior applications. Suitable for cross-laminated timber (CLT), solid wood and wood-based panels, the system is designed to enhance fire safety while preserving the natural appearance of the wood.

The coating system consists of two components: the TEKNOSAFE FLAME GUARD 2467-10 BASE T intumescent primer and the TEKNOSAFE FLAME PROTECT 2468-00 topcoat. Applied together, these waterborne coatings form a fire-retardant system that expands when exposed to heat, creating an insulating layer that slows the spread of fire across the timber surface.

The system is intended for industrial application on solid timber and wood-based panels with a minimum thickness of 8 mm and a density of at least 338 kg/m³. The primer can be applied as a clear or tinted coating, while the translucent topcoat preserves the visible character and grain of the underlying timber, making the system suitable for exposed timber architecture and interior finishes.

When applied as a complete coating system, the product achieves a reaction-to-fire classification of B-s1,d0 in accordance with EN 13501-1. The system is also classified as DRF class INT1 and INT2 under EN 16755, demonstrating the durability of its fire-retardant performance in interior environments. In addition, it has received an M1 indoor air classification and an A+ emissions rating, indicating low emissions of volatile substances into indoor environments.

The Teknos FR Panel system is suitable for a range of interior timber applications, including wall cladding, ceilings, structural timber elements and cross-laminated timber panels.
