KEIM Lignosil-Verano is a silicate-based stain developed to create the appearance of naturally weathered timber façades from the moment of application. Intended for exterior timber elements, the coating simulates the silver-grey patina that untreated wood gradually develops over many years of exposure to the elements.
The product is designed for limited dimensionally stable and non-dimensionally stable timber components, where achieving a consistent weathered appearance through natural ageing alone can be difficult. In untreated façades, the development of a grey patina depends on factors such as orientation, sun exposure, moisture and local climate, often resulting in uneven weathering across the building envelope.
Unlike conventional wood coatings, KEIM Lignosil-Verano is formulated without a protective film-forming function. Instead, the silicate-based stain is intended to weather naturally over time, allowing the treated surface to gradually transition towards the appearance of naturally aged timber while reducing visual differences between exposed and sheltered areas.
The stain is available in a range of classic and metallic colours and can be applied using brushes, rollers, airless spray equipment, brushing machines or vacuum coating systems. Typical consumption is approximately 0.20 litres per square metre for a two-coat application. For projects requiring greater visibility of the timber grain, KEIM also offers Lignosil-Verano-DL, a transparent companion product that adjusts the opacity of the finish while maintaining the weathered appearance.
KEIM Lignosil-Verano has achieved Cradle to Cradle Certified® Silver certification as well as a C2C Certified Material Health Certificate™ Gold. These certifications reflect the product’s focus on material health and circular product development.
