The Outdoor Collection by Hollands Hout includes exterior façade cladding manufactured from FSC®-certified Dutch larch sourced from forests managed by Staatsbosbeheer. The collection has been developed for untreated exterior applications, combining locally sourced timber with processing techniques that optimise material performance and resource efficiency.
Larch is characterised by a high proportion of naturally resin-rich heartwood, which provides enhanced resistance to fungal decay and insect attack compared with sapwood. For this reason, the façade boards are optimised during production to remove sapwood, allowing the untreated heartwood to weather naturally to a silver-grey appearance while maintaining long-term durability in outdoor conditions.
The cladding boards are manufactured using a finger-jointing process that improves dimensional stability, particularly in longer lengths. This production method enables façade elements of up to six metres to be produced while reducing the tendency for movement and facilitating efficient installation.
During manufacturing, larger knots, cracks and other imperfections are removed before the timber sections are finger-jointed into finished boards. This optimisation process increases the usable yield from each tree by enabling larger sections of the trunk to be incorporated into high-quality façade products, supporting more efficient use of the harvested timber resource.
The Outdoor Collection is available in a variety of façade profiles and can be supplied untreated or finished with selected coating systems, depending on project requirements. For projects with specific fire performance requirements, the cladding is available with a Declaration of Performance (DoP) for a reaction-to-fire classification of D-s2,d0. The system can be specified in a range of board dimensions and joint configurations for both closed and ventilated façade constructions.
