NUVI, derived from nouvelle vie (new life), is a Germany-based material developer focused on coated textiles made from bio-based and plastic-free ingredients. The company specialises in scalable production methods, using roll-to-roll processes and materials sourced from regionally available plants and minerals.

NUVI’s collections are characterised by a material-driven approach, in which the visual and tactile qualities of the raw ingredients—including colour, texture and scent—remain clearly perceptible. Rather than replicating conventional coated textiles, the materials are developed to offer alternative aesthetic and material expressions.

The company’s first collection, CRETA, illustrates this approach. The coated textile is made from Champagne chalk combined with a flax backing. The material has a naturally luminous surface and can be coloured in a variety of shades, while being developed with scalability and sustainability in mind.
