Pit-Board
Pit-Board is a solid biocomposite made from discarded olive pits and a bio-resin. Developed and manufactured in Cyprus, the 18 mm panel contains 73% agricultural waste.
The olive pits give the material a granular appearance, with natural variations creating differences between individual panels. Pit-Board is available in Natural, Charcoal and Soft-white tones.
Unlike a surface layer or veneer, Pit-Board can be used as a solid panel without an MDF or plywood substrate. It is moisture-resistant and can be cut, shaped and fabricated using conventional panel-working methods. Its edges can remain exposed, allowing the composition of olive pit particles to remain visible throughout the material. Formaldehyde was not detected in testing according to ISO 16000-9.
Applications include furniture, tables, countertops, shelving, partitions, retail displays, joinery and architectural details. Pit-To-Table sources the olive waste directly from farmers across Cyprus and states that it has so far diverted 6,000 kg of olive pomace from the waste stream.
