The Good Floor is a flooring system based on recycled plastic aggregates combined with a biobased, waterborne binder. Inspired by the appearance of traditional terrazzo, the material is designed as a customisable floor finish for commercial, public and residential interiors.
The flooring incorporates recycled plastic sourced from waste streams, including plastic recovered from Dutch rivers such as the River Maas. By transforming discarded plastic into a durable interior surface, the material contributes to the valorisation of waste resources and supports circular material flows within the built environment.
The floor system offers a high degree of design flexibility. Base colours can be specified according to RAL, NCS or Sikkens colour systems, while the composition, colour and density of the recycled plastic aggregates can be tailored to project requirements. Different aggregate concentrations create varying visual effects, ranging from more open terrazzo patterns to denser aggregate distributions.
The material is intended for use in a wide range of interior applications, including offices, hospitality environments, residential projects and public buildings. Its customisable composition allows designers and architects to create project-specific flooring solutions while incorporating recycled content into interior spaces.
Production is based on a combination of recycled plastic aggregates and a biobased binder system, providing an alternative to conventional flooring materials. Through the use of recycled feedstocks and locally sourced waste streams, the material aims to reduce the environmental impact associated with virgin raw materials while contributing to the recovery and reuse of plastic waste.
Available in a range of standard design concepts as well as bespoke configurations, The Good Floor combines circular material sourcing with the aesthetic characteristics of terrazzo flooring, offering a durable and adaptable surface solution for contemporary interiors.
