SEAQUAL® YARN is a 100% post-consumer recycled polyester yarn that incorporates recycled marine plastic alongside recycled PET from land-based waste streams. Developed by the SEAQUAL INITIATIVE, the material is intended for a wide range of textile applications, offering an alternative to virgin polyester while supporting the recovery of plastic waste from aquatic environments.

The yarn consists of approximately 10% Upcycled Marine Plastic recovered from marine litter and around 90% recycled post-consumer PET sourced from land-based waste. Collected marine plastic is processed into clean flakes before being converted into recycled polymer pellets and subsequently spun into yarn. The resulting material is available as both continuous filament and staple fibre in a variety of yarn counts and finishes.

Production takes place through a vertically integrated manufacturing network with facilities in Spain and Mexico. By managing the transformation process from recovered marine plastic to finished yarn within a coordinated supply chain, the production system aims to improve traceability, quality control and transportation efficiency.

SEAQUAL® YARN has physical properties comparable to conventional recycled polyester, making it suitable for numerous textile applications. It is used in apparel, footwear, bags, home textiles, upholstery, rugs, automotive interiors and soft signage, enabling manufacturers to incorporate recycled marine plastic into products without significantly altering conventional textile processing methods.
