Sequoia – Carbon Negative Rainscreen Façade

by Made of Air · Germany · ONA1194 · Published 18 Feb 2026
About this material

SEQUOIA by Made of Air is a 100% biogenic, carbon-negative rainscreen façade panel engineered to deliver durable, high-performance cladding while helping projects permanently reduce embodied carbon. It integrates seamlessly into standard rainscreen and wall-package scopes, offering a specification-ready alternative to conventional façade materials without adding schedule or coordination complexity.

SEQUOIA is produced from biocarbon derived from waste biomass (wood waste). This process locks atmospheric carbon into a long-life building product, transforming exterior cladding into long-term carbon storage within the building envelope. The result is a façade panel that combines practical constructability with a compelling sustainability narrative in a single material choice.

SEQUOIA has been developed with the following core attributes:

  • Climate-positive performance: A carbon-negative material impact that supports embodied-carbon targets and enables meaningful reductions compared to mainstream façade materials.
  • Circular economy, 100% biogenic content: Manufactured from waste biomass, SEQUOIA supports circularity by valorising wood waste into a durable construction product.
  • High performance: Designed for demanding exterior conditions, SEQUOIA is suitable for durable rainscreen applications.
  • Fire performance: Achieves Euroclass B fire classification, supporting façade applications where robust fire performance is required.
  • Finish options: Available in a range of colours and finishes tailored to project-specific design requirements.

SEQUOIA is developed in Berlin, Germany, with production capacity scaling to support broader adoption. It enables the construction industry to move beyond carbon neutrality by transforming the building envelope into long-term carbon storage. By combining carbon-negative impact with practical rainscreen compatibility and a range of architectural finishes, SEQUOIA provides a pathway to decarbonise façade packages without compromising durability, aesthetics, or project delivery.
