Trederra recycled rubber

Trederra produces recycled rubber masterbatches designed to partially replace virgin synthetic rubber in footwear applications. The material is manufactured in Asia using both post-consumer and post-industrial waste streams.

One feedstock consists of rubber recovered from end-of-life tyres. This recycled material is particularly suitable for work and safety footwear outsoles where oil resistance is required. A second feedstock uses pre-consumer and post-industrial waste, including EVA, latex and polyol.

Trederra’s MB-6 masterbatch contains 80% recycled content and is intended for performance and casual footwear outsoles. It can be blended with both natural and synthetic rubber to produce the final outsole compound. According to the manufacturer, MB-6 meets relevant physical performance requirements without restricting the colour possibilities of the finished product.

A third-party life cycle assessment (LCA) commissioned by Trederra indicates that the recycled masterbatch can achieve a 66.47% reduction in CO₂-equivalent emissions compared with virgin rubber. By incorporating existing rubber and polymer waste into new compounds, the material offers footwear manufacturers a way to reduce virgin rubber consumption while retaining the properties required for outsole production.
