TYRE+ by Solepex®
TYRE+ by Solepex® tpe-rubber compound consists 30 % reused raw material, which is supplied by utilizing discarded winter and summer tyres produced by Nokian Tyres Plc. The rubber is recovered at Finnish Tyre Recycling Ltd. Lenkki Oy has developed the compound and manufactures TYRE+ products with injection molding in Finland.
Products, made out of TYRE+, withstand freezing temperatures, impacts, and bending; they provide good traction on ice and wet surfaces and do not absorb moisture. For example, TYRE+ by Solepex® footwear soles are perfect for leisure and outdoor footwear, but material use is not limited to footwear. Wherever shock- and vibration damping, protective rubber boot, cover or case is needed,
TYRE+ is a good option.
TYRE+ compound passes REACH screening, also PAH-chemicals. CO2e-emissions reduces by 46% regarding raw materials and their transport of the footwear sole, compared to the standard thermoplastic rubber sole manufactured by Lenkki Oy (SATRA). TYRE+ by Solepex® sole has won the Sustainable Innovations competition organized in conjunction with the PacTec, FoodTec & PlastExpo Nordic 2024 event.
Material development was co-funded by European Union in 2023.
