Marc Wijkmans – Wetlands: Biodegradable rainwear material revitalising the Dutch landscape

Marc Wijkmans is a material-driven design professional specializing in sustainable materials and products that benefit both humans and the environment. His work focuses on developing biobased composite materials, particularly from Dutch wool, for the textile industry. By combining hands-on experimentation with knowledge from biology, ecology, and (bio)chemistry, he balances innovation with sustainability. Beyond materials, he explores circular and regenerative economies, transforming waste into value through strategic business insights. With a Master’s degree in Industrial Design, he seeks opportunities in material design, circular business, and concept development, aiming to create sustainable products and local value chains.
