A watch made of coffee grounds

Said to be the world’s first, German watch manufacturer Lilienthal Berlin released a series of watches made of recycled coffee grounds.

All named after types of coffee – Latte, Macchiato, Espresso and Americano – the various watches have one thing in common: they are all made of recycled coffee grounds, sourced from Berlin cafés and roasting houses. The grounds are transformed into a durable material through a ‘unique upcycling process’ by German start-up Kaffeeform, which is known for its coffee cups made of recycled coffee (read more about this here).

The case of the watch reveals the material it is made of, as the colour, texture and even scent still remind of coffee grounds. The core of the case is made of stainless steel, and the watch has precise quartz movement from Swiss manufacturer Ronda.

Made in Germany, the watch is available with various straps, including leather, mesh and a vegan leather made of latex and cellulose fibres.
