Opening second location Broeinest in Rotterdam

News · Story by MaterialDistrict · 16 Feb 2017 · 2 min read

Broeinest, the material library and meeting location for (interior) architects and designers, opens its second location today in Rotterdam (NL). Like in the first location in Eindhoven, there will be a changing Materia exhibition present, this time with the theme Luxurious Materials.

Broeinest was founded by Baars & Bloemhoff, a company that sells decorative sheet material. Broeinest brings together manufacturers, brands, and materials to cater to the needs of creative professionals. The company offers various facilities. They host workshops, lectures and breakfast sessions that are accessible to everyone and are about interior, design and materials. They also provide flexible workstations, a workshop, meeting rooms, a laser cutter, and material advice.

Since January 2015, Broeinest is located in Strijp-S in Eindhoven (NL). Because of the success, they decided to open a second location, which is located in the Zomerhofkwartier in Rotterdam (Zomerhofstraat 71). Both locations are open every weekday from 08.00 to 17.30 h.

Broeinest and Materia
Every three months, Materia provides a new and inspiring exhibition about innovative materials for Broeinest, each time with a different theme. This tradition will be continued at the new location, the first exhibition being “Luxurious Materials”, while the exhibition in Eindhoven is about The Naturals. Three times per year, there also will be a Materia Café at each location, an event where two lectures will be given that fit the theme.

Exhibition Luxurious Materials in Rotterdam
The crisis is over, so with this new exhibition we want to unpack, celebrate the extras and enjoy the comfort and glamour. Discover the softest velvets and felts, impressively shiny gold leather and shimmering reflective surfaces. The value of these surfaces is both objective and subjective. The value of a luxury material may come because the material is scarce and difficult to obtain, or because it took many hours of work and effort to create. In some cases, a luxury material may be entirely one of a kind, used by a style icon, have a special story behind it or have been created by an innovative new machine or process.

From tomorrow on, you’re welcome every weekday to see Materia’s exhibition at Broeinest Rotterdam (and Eindhoven)!
