Tambour furniture combines the classic with the contemporary

Wood never goes out of style and that goes double for wooden furniture. Designer Aaron Poritz creates wooden furniture with a classic look, but adds a contemporary twist. All furniture in this line has a tambour, or a flexible shutter made from wooden strips.

The furniture consists of plywood or Baltic birch panel with real wood veneer on top, usually walnut or maple. However, the materials and finish can be customised.

Each tambour wood slat rests atop a rail, the sliding door to open around rounded edges. The veneer shows a continuous pattern of the wood even on the individual slats. Behind the tambours are often drawers hidden, and there is ample storage space inside the furniture.

The collection consists of everything from coffee table to a bar, each of which has customisable sizes and materials.
