On 15 August, Els Zijlstra, creative director of MaterialDistrict, will give a keynote lecture about the book Booming Bamboo and more during the World Bamboo Congress, which takes place from 14 to 18 August in Mexico. Els will discuss the content of Booming Bamboo, which she wrote along with Pable van der Lugt and was published by MaterialDistrict.

You can weave it, laminate it, spin it into fabric, even 3D print it. Bamboo is one of the most versatile materials in the world, yet it is still relatively unknown in world of design. The first book of its kind, Booming Bamboo explores the most innovative applications for this material, in architecture and design, but also in a multitude of other modern uses.
