“How to appreciate brick, both as a constructive and as an expressive material. A showcase of the innovative ways in which bricks can be shaped, making it a timeless material that adds texture, colour and character to streetscapes and the public realm, fusing tradition and modernity.”

These relief bricks create an undulating surface that can be ordered from calm to dramatic. In the shift, relative to each other, a movement is created that is associated with heavy waves. The playful stacking of relief stones creates changing views from different angles and thus different experiences. In doing so the emphasis is on the use of our senses.

Services and experience as a brief introduction to Christine Jetten’s method of working.

  • Co-creation: commissioned designs for custom work and co-creation with (interior)architects, designers and their clients.
  • n order to experiment with ideas and explore texture, shape and composition in complete freedom, 3D printed scale models of the module to be designed are provided in the concept phase which is approached as a broad exploration of the context.
  • Ceramic glaze design: a choice from a large archive of glaze options, all unique designs that can be refined in close collaboration.
  • To explore the magic of the surface all glazes are individually designed, based on the relationship between clay type, texture and glaze properties,. During production, close cooperation takes place with manufacturers to ensure the implementation of the design.
  • Experience: Collaboration with architects, interior architects, private clients, project developers and ceramic manufacturers around the globe, with built projects in Western Europe, USA, Middle East and China. Projects such as corporate headquarters, hotels, museums, shop fronts, private homes, apartment complexes, subway stations, restoration and renovation.
  • Lectures, master classes for architects and architecture students.

Christine Jetten is educated in Fine Arts and Ceramic Design (Gerrit Rietveld Academie Amsterdam) and Ceramic Technology (TH Eindhoven). The focus in the field of glazing is an ongoing dialogue of fine art and manufacturing techniques. The training as master ceramicist in the field of sculptural and monumental art, guarantees my independent attitude and dedication to each project, developing specific glaze qualities and testing materials for their full visual potential. Bringing the conceptual and the making together, while bridging the gap between (interior)architect and ceramic manufacturer. Jetten’s intention is that her designs create not just a surface but also deliver an experience.
