Riverevent Returns To The Netherlands With Three Days Of Materials, Design And Architecture
From 29 September to 1 October, RiverEvent will return to the Netherlands, bringing its floating exhibition to Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Den Bosch. On board, architects and interior professionals can discover products and materials from around 60 brands, alongside a programme of talks exploring subjects ranging from biophilic design and floating communities to yacht interiors and architecture.
Rather than taking place in a conventional exhibition venue, RiverEvent is hosted aboard the Blue Rhapsody. The ship travels between cities and remains moored during each event day, allowing visitors to drop in throughout the day. This year’s Dutch edition starts at the Veemkade in Amsterdam on 29 September, continues at the Piet Smitkade in Rotterdam on 30 September and concludes at the Brabanthallen in Den Bosch on 1 October.
Materials And Products On Board
The exhibition brings together companies working across architecture, interiors and material applications. The 2026 line-up spans façade systems, flooring, acoustic solutions, insulation, surfaces, timber and biobased materials, building systems and interior products.
Among the participating brands are Accoya, ArcelorMittal Building Solutions, Amtico, Finsa, FOAMGLAS, Fundermax, Kebony, MOSO Bamboo, Nabasco, PREFA, Rubio Monocoat, Schöck, Sempergreen, SOPREMA, Unilin Insulation and Viveau.
The compact format is intended to make it possible to explore the exhibition and speak directly with manufacturers and specialists in a relatively short visit. Food and drinks are provided on board and admission, catering and access to the speaker programme are free for professional visitors.
From Biophilic Design To Floating Communities
Alongside the exhibition, RiverEvent hosts a lecture programme. Several sessions take place in all three cities, while the late-afternoon programme changes according to location.
At 11:30, Lianne Bongers, founder of the Biophilic Design Academy, explores the relationship between nature, health and the built environment in Designing for Health: The Power of Biophilic Design.
The afternoon programme (in collaboration with BNI) includes Tijmen Kuyper, who uses the development of the floating housing cooperative Delta Domus to examine how architecture can contribute to new forms of community, climate adaptation and affordable housing.
Andries van Baren takes visitors behind the scenes of luxury yacht interiors, looking beyond their visible finishes to the engineering, regulations, material choices and specialist craftsmanship that make these highly complex interiors possible.
A Different Final Session In Every City
At 17:00, each city gets its own programme.
In Amsterdam, HofmanDujardin’s Barbara Dujardin and David Hernandez Lopez reflect on 25 years of the studio’s Shaping Intuition® philosophy and how architecture and interiors can create places for human connection.
In Rotterdam, the programme turns to EGM interieur, with a session examining interior design through realised projects and practice.
The final day in Den Bosch features Rian Knop of studio RIANKNOP, presenting the transformation of the Verkadefabriek. Her talk explores how art became the starting point for the renovation, while existing qualities and historical elements were combined with reuse and locally produced materials.
