Dutch Design Week 2024 highlights 3D printed projects and other production innovations that are redefining the possibilities of materials and design. One standout is Democratized Large-Format 3D Printing for Creators, which makes large-scale 3D printing accessible, allowing designers to craft innovative objects on a grander scale. Meanwhile, the Wind Knitting Factory presents a whimsical yet functional concept—using wind power to knit textiles, merging craft with sustainability.
Acoustic design enthousiasts will be drawn to Cowave, a design project combining neuroscience and artificial intelligence to produce personalized 3D acoustic panels. The design of the panels is based on emotional brain reactions.
Finally, Minimal Matter explores the beauty of reduction by transforming everyday materials into minimalist designs, offering a less-is-more approach to material use. By experimenting with various minimal surfaces and porosities and utilizing 3D printing, the aim is to explore forms that meet a wide range of architectural requirements, offering innovative and adaptable solutions for modern design.
