What not to miss at Dutch Design Week 2020 part 2: plastic

Dutch Design Week 2020 takes place from 17 to 25 October. Due to Covid-19, the event will be held entirely virtually, but that does not mean there isn’t plenty of material inspiration. We selected some of the most interesting recycled plastic projects.

Embassy of Rethinking Plastic
Plastic is considered a cheap material that we easily throw away, yet it causes many environmental problems. Yksi Expo shows the work of designers that look at plastic differently, by developing alternatives of designing ways that last longer and are easier to recycle.

In addition, MaterialDistrict presents an exhibition under the same name at Yksi Expo until the end of Dutch Design Week. For more information, click here.

Waltic
Founded by Argentinian designer and entrepreneur Fede Baroni, Waltic is a wristwatch made of plastic bags floating in rivers and the sea.

DDW also presents Sustonable, a material made of quartz and recycled PET plastic.
