This Bathroom Mirror is Smarter than Yours

Google Software Engineer Max Braun thought it would helpful to have a mirror that could tell him the weather and morning news while he was going about his morning routine. When he couldn’t find a smart mirror on the market, he innovated his own.

Braun explains that his smart mirror was relatively easy to create, although required considerable experimentation. It is made with elements that are readily available on the market: a two-way mirror, a display panel, controller board, plus a few miscellaneous craft store items. It was made by sandwiching a thin display between the two-way mirror glass and the front of the medicine cabinet. The wires and electronics are hidden away on the inside, while still allowing for shelf space.

The interface makes use of Android software, linking to application interfaces such as the Forecast for weather and the Associated Press for news. Braun is currently looking to add traffic and reminder apps as well!
