Cork stool

Recently a lot of furniture designs show the use of cork. Green thinking might well be a reason for that. Cork oak trees have a quite long lifespan and their oak bark can be peeled every nine years. German designer Manuel Welsky has created the SCRW stool, made of cork and high-quality steel.

Welsky made a design with, well, a twist. Cork reminds us ofcourse of wine bottles, that you just pull out. Other bottle caps are screwed on and off. This stool has a cork seat, while the frame is a screw thread. This combination makes the comfortable seat of the SCRW stool easy to adjust in height.
